First Look at the General Tools RLD400 Refrigerant Leak Detector

General Tools RLD400General Tools recently announced a new long-life, high-sensitivity refrigerant leak detector, the RLD400. Capable of detecting all commercially available HFC, HFO, HC, HCFC and CFC refrigerant gases, the RLD400 can also detect the newer ozone friendly refrigerants such as R-22 and R-1234yf. The RLD400 indicates refrigerant leaks in three ways: audible beeping, a flashing LED, and a readout on the display indicating the relative size of the leak. Additionally, the user can adjust the sensitivity level to according to specific site conditions.

The General Tools RLD400 features a long-life sensor expected to last around 10 years under normal usage. And to increase speed, sensitivity, and accuracy, the RLD400 uses a mechanical pump to draw in samples. The instrument calibrates upon startup and even includes a test vial of refrigerant so the user can ensure correct operation. The RLD400 also clears another tough hurdle in today’s diagnostic tool market–it’s made in the USA. The new RLD400 should make a great choice in refrigerant leak detection, from HVAC to automotive applications.
